Abstract
The purpose of this study was to standardize the National Institute of Special Education- Korean¡¤Autism Rating Scale for Teachers(NISE-K¡¤ART). The NISE-K¡¤ART assess two domains: social communication and social interaction(SC) and the restricted repetitive behaviors, interests, and activities(RRB). The scale was developed for preschoolers (3-5 years old), elementary school students (6-12 years old), and middle and high school student (13-18 years old) and is capable of assessing different grade levels. The NISE-K¡¤ART was administered to 561 students with ASD for standardization and to 318 students with intellectual disabilities and 319 students without disabilities for assessing clinical utility. For item analysis, item difficulty and discrimination were analyzed based on item response theory. For validity, construct validity, quasi-validity, and discriminant validity were examined; and for reliability, internal consistency (Cronbach¡¯s ¥á), test-retest reliability, and inter-rater agreement were tested. The study revealed the following. First, after we examined the difficulty and discrimination of the NISE-K¡¤ART, we found that the scale consisted of items of varying difficulty (severity) and had fair discrimination. Second, the reliability analysis showed that the NISE-K¡¤ART had high internal consistency, test-retest reliability, and inter-rater agreement. Lastly, the study confirmed that the NISE-K¡¤ART had high validity and high discrimination between groups. Based on these findings, we discuss the significance of the NISE-K¡¤ART and how to utilize it.
